Across School Teacher Vacancy

The Waimea Kāhui Ako has two Across School Teacher vacancies.

We are seeking people who are great teaching and learning practitioners and who can work as part of a collaborative team to build capacity within our kura with the ultimate goal of raising student achievement.  

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference for our tamariki and to support and enhance the mahi of our teaching colleagues across the Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary sectors.  Our current strategic goals are available on our website so think about how you may be able to contribute to one or more of these goals.

One Across School position is available at present.  This position comes with a 0.4 classroom release time, a salary increment and a travel / expense allowance to support the role.  The initial tenure for the role is 2 years.

This appointment will begin at the start of the 2022 school year.

WAIMEA KAHUI AKO EARLY CHILDHOOD OUTREACH VACANCY

 

The Early Childhood Outreach (ECO) is an exciting and dynamic new role created as part of a regional pilot project focusing on early intervention and support for learners and their families/whanau.  The target learner is 3 years of age. This is a Fixed term part time role with rate of pay and hours negotiable. It is envisioned that the role would be approximately 15 hours per week. The successful applicant will be self-motivated to proactively build and sustain positive relationships and networks across home and early childhood centres. A training package will be available to work alongside families. In addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills a current drivers license and vehicle is a requirement.

WAIMEA KAHUI AKO EARLY CHILDHOOD OUTREACH (ECO)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Early Childhood Outreach (ECO) is an exciting and dynamic new role created as part of a regional pilot project focusing on early intervention and support for learners and their families/whanau. 

 

ECOs will work to offer tailor-made supports including the identification of existing services from different agencies and helping with the development of Individual Education Plans with families and centres when needed. 

 

ECOs will also work with families/whanau helping to build strong relationships and will be trained to deliver the Positive Parenting Program when appropriate.

 

Person Specs

  1. Interest and knowledge in ECE/Education and child development

  2. Ability/Passion to work in partnership with whanau, ECE and young learners

  3. Proactively connect whanau and ECEs with other agencies

  4. Willingness and confidence to work with people in their homes and provide practical support

  5. Solution focused, flexible with strong organisation skills

  6. Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised between supervision sessions and as part of a team

  7. Display an understanding and sensitivity towards culturally responsive practices and tikanga

  8. Knowledge of family dynamics and effect on children's lives

  9. Awareness of professional boundaries and own emotional intelligence knowing when to seek support

  10. Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills

  11. The ability to reflect on own practice; undertake training advice and constructive feedback

  12. A willingness to work hours in a flexible way

This role will be governed by a steering group comprising of school, ECE and MOE representation.
